Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis®

Gyrotonic is an exciting approach to health and fitness, still new to the UK, based on Yoga, Tai Chi, swimming, gymnastics and dance. It uses fluid spiralling movements to strengthen core stability, mobilise joints and increase flexibility. It is great for rehabilitation after injury, or for anyone wanting to be stronger and more flexible.

Founder Juliu Horvath is an ex-dancer who used his years of experience in dance and yoga to aid his own recorvery from a knee injury - thus the Gyrotonic Expansion System was born. This innovative and complete fitness regime is attracting much attentiuon, in particular from dancers and other athletes, throughout the US and other countries. The method allows users to stretch and strengthen muscles, while simultaneously stimulating and strengthening the connective tissues in and around the joints. The exercises are synchronised with energising breathing patterns, enhancing the aerobic and cardiovascular elements.

The Gyrotonic 'Tower' - a beautifully designed pulley tower and bench combination - is used in private lessons to provide resistance and assistance through full range of movement. WIth familiarity, the movements increase in intensity for a full cardiovasular workout.

Gyrokinesis is the mat work version of the Gyrotonic and is a total body workout incorporating core stability training, flexibility and postural alignment, and stimulation of the nervous system.
